Thank you in advance for your consideration in giving to St. Joseph Catholic Church. We are pleased to report that our Finance Committee maintains its focus on supporting the staff, structures and supplies necessary for us to gather as a Catholic Community, worship together, grow our faith together, praise Our Creator and thank Him for all He has provided. We do this as a Parish, together.
The Finance Council Charter reflects their purpose to assist the pastor in the administration of financial resources, buildings and grounds. The charter lists the council's responsibilities including things such as recommending budgets, analyzing revenue and expenses, recommending corrective action if necessary, reviewing maintenance of building and equipment, helping to achieve the CSA goal and communicating regularly with parishioners.
If you would like to make special contributions, please consider the opportunities below:
Catholic Services Appeal 2023
During this time of Eucharistic Revival, the 2023 Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) theme, The Source & Summit, reminds us that the grace we receive from Jesus is meant to be shared with others. The Catholic Services Appeal is one such opportunity to share our love and support for the mission our Lord entrusted to us.
The CSA is a diocesan-wide campaign that supports the mission of the Catholic Church locally, regionally and globally. The CSA covers 70% of the Diocese of Gaylord’s annual operational budget, impacting thousands of families each year. Your gift to the CSA helps fulfill our Catholic mission by making the following essential ministries possible. Our 2023 CSA Target Goal for St. Joseph of Onekama is $27,293. If we exceed our goal, 100% of additional funds will be returned to our parish for sound system upgrades. Every gift, regardless of the size, is vital to the success of the appeal. Thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration and generosity.
St. Joseph Endowment Fund
The Endowment Fund has been established with $1,000 gifts from five parishioners. The total of $5,000 allows for future gifts to be made in any amount. The fund also provides families an avenue for memorial giving. Please call our office to learn more.
St. Joseph Building Fund
Most people think that the building fund is only to construct new buildings. But, the Building Fund provides a needed cash reserve to maintain our current buildings. Think of it as a Building Maintenance Fund. Things like new roofs, resurfacing the parking lot and furnace repair are common needs. With an adequate Building Fund, we can avoid special collections.
St. Joseph Community Food Pantry
There are always people in need of food, drink, clothes and kindness. There are routinely about 30 families who come to our St. Joseph Community Food Pantry each month seeking help. Families vary in size from 1 to 9. On average, we serve about 100 people every month.
We spend about $1,500 monthly for food and drink. Donations from parishioners, other churches, civic organizations, individuals and others fund our ministry.
Parishioners are only a portion of the 20 to 25 regular volunteers. Many have been helping for more than 10 years. Some have volunteered month after month for over 25 years. Our volunteers recognize that there is a need not only for food and drink. There is also a need for kindness, laughter and caring. Volunteers give with their heart as well as work with their hands.
